Do your bit to save this Earth!

The next time you order take-away from a restaurant, carry a hotpack and some smaller metal vessels to pack the food from the restaurant.

That way, you can save a lot of plastic bags, heat-seal wraps and paper from getting wasted.

Sounds absurd? Think.

Your concern and point is very true but am afraid how many will do this .. (including me, to admit with shame)

Just try it once and see how it feels. Half the time we don’t do something different because we don’t want to stand out of the usual crowd.

Try taking the hot pack to the hotel (a crowded one is better) and casually explain it to the take-away counter guy that he can pack the food in the hot pack… you don’t even have to explain that you don’t want to waste paper and plastic. Make sure you note the looks on the people around you.

Earlier, parcels were made with banana leaf, and wrapped with dried lotus or some other big leaf made in to a nice, circular plate. But now?

The real shame we live in is the tendency to want to look modern in anything we do.

I agree with your idea. Maybe, when I have my own household, and better facility to wash plates, etc., I’d definitely follow your advice.

Actually, the thing nowadays is that I don’t get my food packed on like more than 4 to 5 occasions in an entire year.

Also, if you think carefully, if our waste management would be good all the packing material won’t be much problem ‘cuz all is recyclable!

The point on plastic covers is very valid. But the problem is, the plastic covers are too comfortable! The news paper covers that the vegetable vendor gives just tears after I come home! I just wish some one finds a technology to recycle plastic covers… I have seen a lot of people take food packed in their tiffin carriers. I don’t pack food at all, I want to eat food immediately (esp. from a hotel), otherwise it is not fresh..
